🍭 Designing in 3D Moving the Object Pivot

Moving the Object Pivot

Spline allows you to move the pivot position of β€œGroup” objects, so if you want to move the pivot of an object you just have to group it first and then select only its parent group layer.

Here’s how to do it step by step:

  1. Select the object(s) that you want to change the pivot position.

  2. Group the selection by pressing ⌘ + G (or Ctrl + G on Windows)

  3. On the left sidebar, select only the parent of the group by holding βŒ₯ option (or Alt on Windows) and clicking the β€œGroup” layer.

  4. Now use the gizmo to move the axis position of the pivot.

Moving Pivots on Groups

  • You can adjust the pivot point for groups, but none of the direct child objects within the group should have states.

Pivot Limitations on Instance Objects

  • Pivot points cannot be adjusted for instance objects or groups within an instance.

  • To modify the pivot, you must edit the main component instead.

Adjusting Pivots for Shapes & Mesh Objects

  • To move the pivot for shapes and mesh objects, enter Edit Mode, select all faces, and reposition the object.

  • The pivot remains fixed when exiting Edit Mode.

  • This requires manual adjustments for precise positioning.

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to create different rotation animations using Spline.
